Your itinerary, alongside your calendar

Review your trip dates and stop times in Itinee before adding a calendar copy.

Keep a calendar copy of your planned visits alongside other appointments. Use the website to download a whole-itinerary .ics file, or use a stop’s Calendar action to prepare an individual event. Review dates and times before saving.

1. Export an Itinerary from the Website

An itinerary export contains calendar entries for stored stops, including scheduled breaks. Review the itinerary first, especially any stops without an explicit visit time.

  1. For your own trip, sign in on the Itinee website and open its trip view. You can also export from the editor while that trip is editable.
  2. Choose Export Calendar (.ics). On a public Discover trip, look in the sharing section near the bottom of the page.
  3. Save the downloaded .ics file so you can import it into your calendar application.

2. Import the File into Google Calendar

Google Calendar’s file-import workflow is available on a computer. For another calendar application, follow its own import instructions.

  1. Open Google Calendar on a computer and go to Settings, then Import and Export.
  2. Select the .ics file you downloaded from Itinee and choose the calendar that should receive the events.
  3. Import the file, then open the first and last entries to check the dates and times.

3. Add an Individual Stop

On the website, the Calendar action on an eligible stop in your own trip opens a Google Calendar event form. In the Android app, Calendar on an eligible stop opens the device calendar composer, with a Google Calendar browser fallback. This prepares one event: review the date, time zone, duration, location and notes, then save it in your calendar. It does not add every stop in the day.

4. Review Dates, Time Zones and Notes

Compare the calendar entries with your Itinee timeline before relying on them. Check the day, start time, end time and destination time zone; your calendar may display events in a different zone. Correct any mismatch before saving or using the events. Exported descriptions can include your stop notes and map links, so review them before importing into a shared calendar.

5. Update Your Calendar Copy When Plans Change

A downloaded file or saved event is a snapshot, not automatic calendar synchronisation. Editing Itinee will not keep that calendar copy up to date. Update the events yourself or export and import again after reviewing the existing entries. Calendar applications handle repeated imports differently, so check for duplicates. Calendar notifications are configured separately from Itinee’s Time to Move reminders.

Pro Traveler Strategy

Create a separate calendar for your trip before importing. This makes the imported entries easier to identify and manage when your plans change.

Key Takeaways

  • Use the website’s .ics export for a whole itinerary.
  • A stop’s Calendar action prepares a single event for you to review and save.
  • Check dates, time zones, durations and notes before using or sharing calendar entries.
  • Exports are snapshots; later itinerary changes require a calendar update.
